The contract, which is valued at around $109 million, includes various civil, building, mechanical, and electrical works aimed at supporting sustainable production at the mine. October 11, 2024 (Australian Mining) - IGO has awarded Barminco, an underground mining company owned by Perenti, a contract extension to continue mining at the Nova underground nickel mine in Western Australia. The contract is valued at $157 million and involves Barminco executing underground mine development, production and mining support services. The contract extension is for 29 months and commenced on July 1 2024, with the agreement not requiring new growth capital. Barminco has been working at Nova since it started underground development in 2015, when it was a greenfield site. The initial 2015 contract between Barminco and IGO was for a 36-month period. Meeka Metals Limited has confirmed that a 750 kW ball mill has been safely and effectively dismantled, loaded onto a transport float and is en-route to its Murchison gold project, in Western Australia. The news comes alongside the appointment of MACA Interquip Mintrex (MIQM) to execute the expansion and re-start work with the carbon-in-leach processing plant. The mobilisation schedule for the ball mill has been agreed and MIQM’s execution team will mobilise in late October 2024 to begin this expansion work. NRW Holdings Limited has been awarded a contract by Evolution Mining (Mungari) Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Evolution Mining Limited, for surface mining at Castle Hill. The project is in the heart of the Goldfields, 50 km northwest of Kalgoorlie and 40 km north of Coolgardie, ideally situated to allow NRW to engage with local businesses and further develop the local community partnerships established by the Mungari Operations, it said. Barrick Gold Corporation has awarded Metso a major order for the supply of copper concentrator plant equipment to its Lumwana expansion project in North-Western Province in Zambia. Metso’s scope of delivery includes key equipment for grinding, flotation, thickening, feeding and filtration. The value of the order is approximately €70 million, and it is booked in the Minerals segment’s 2024 third-quarter order intake. Lumwana is a significant contributor in Barrick’s expanding copper portfolio, catering to the rapidly increasing demand for copper required for the energy transition. Nouveau Monde Graphite has awarded ABB a contract to supply, construct and commission the 120 kV substation for its Phase-2 Matawinie mine in the province of Quebec, Canada, as part of the construction preparation for the establishment of a 103,000 t/y graphite mining and concentrator complex. Located 120 km north of Montreal, the Matawinie mine will be connected to the provincial hydropower network, enabling the access to clean energy to support mining activities and concentrator production of carbon-neutral graphite concentrate destined for the lithium-ion battery market. Wärtsilä will supply the engines and auxiliary equipment for a power plant being installed at the Boto gold mine in Senegal. The order, which was booked by Wärtsilä in the March quarter of 2024, has been placed by Africa Power Services (APS), the France-based main contractor for the engineering, procurement and construction of the power plant. The mine has been recently acquired by Managem, an international mining group with operations in eight countries across Africa. The 17 MW power plant will operate with six Wärtsilä 32 engines to be delivered on an engineered equipment (EEQ) basis. The equipment deliveries are targeted to be completed by December 2024, and the plant is expected to be commissioned during the March quarter of 2025

September 26, 2024 (Australian Mining) - BUMA Australia will continue providing mining services at the Meandu thermal coal mine in the South Burnett region of southern Queensland. The Delta Dunia Group subsidiary signed a new contract with Stanwell, the owner of the Meandu mine. BUMA Australia has been operating the Meandu mine since 2021. The new $200 million contract will last through to June 2026 and will see BUMA Australia continue overseeing all aspects of the Meandu mine, including site senior executive responsibilities, mine planning, drilling, blasting, overburden removal, coal mining, and the management of coal handling and processing plants. The company will also oversee rehabilitation activities, civil works, and the maintenance of both mobile and fixed plant equipment
PT Delta Dunia Makmur Tbk (Delta Dunia Group) announced that its subsidiary, PT Bukit Makmur Mandiri Utama (BUMA), through its wholly owned Australian subsidiary, BUMA Australia Pty Ltd (BUMA Australia) has been selected by TEC Coal Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Stanwell Corporation, to continue providing mining services at the Meandu mine in Queensland, Australia.
