SnapshotMining at The Tallering Peak was completed in June 2014 and the final shipment of remnant low grade ore occurred in March 2017.

Mount Gibson has retained its mining and exploration interests in the historic Tallering Peak mining area, to the north of which it continues to explore prospective ground for base metals mineralisation, together with its Fields Find interest.

Mount Gibson also continues to assess regional exploration opportunities for base metals deposits particularly in the Mid-West region, where it has entered into a farm-in agreement covering prospective exploration tenure at the Butcher’s Track prospect north of the Company’s Tallering Peak mine site, approximately 160km northeast of Geraldton. During the year the Company completed preliminary drilling programs at prospects near Tallering Peak and Butcher’s Track to confirm geological settings and test identified electromagnetic anomalies. Assessment and planning to determine the next stage of activity is underway.

Summary:

Tallering Peak Iron Ore Mine, situated approximately 63 kilometres north of Mullewa. More specifically, the proposed clearing area includes a rocky, upperslope part of the Tallering Ridge, a Banded Ironstone Formation (BIF) some 8 kilometres long, striking north-east to south-west, and elevated some 150 metres above the natural surrounding ground surface level.

The Tallering Ridge is the largest and southernmost of three distinct BIF ridges that occur within the Tallering Peak mining leases. It consists of two prominent peaks, Tallering Peak and Tallering Hill. The apex of Tallering Hill has been removed by mining operations, whilst Tallering Peak is located north-east of current mining operations, further along the ridge. The Tallering Ridge is currently being mined and consists of the T2, T3, T4, T6A and T6B pits to date.

BIF's are characterised by unique geology, soils and relative isolation. As a consequence, BIF's provide unique habitat for flora and fauna species. The biodiversity value of BIF's relates to the endemic plant species, rare and restricted plant species and distinct communities that exist in these unique landscapes.
