SnapshotThe Taganaan (Hinatuan) mine produces direct shipping saprolite ore and limonite ore.

Based on the revised life-of-mine plan, the mine life of the Taganaan mine is expected to last until 2026. Recent market price improvements allowed HMC to dispose of lower-grade materials that were previously considered non-marketable at a profit, effectively extending the mine’s life. Moreover, review of HMC’s mineral reserves modifying factors allowed for adjustments to the site’s mine production plans which yielded increases in the total mineable reserves. Additional studies regarding the feasibility of shipping out lower-grade ores, as initiated by the Group, are also underway and could potentially further lengthen the mine’s life if proven to be feasible.

Hinatuan Mining Corp. was incorporated on October 9, 1979 and was granted rights over the Taganaan property (also known Hinatuan mine site) in 1980.

Hinatuan Mining Corp. is a 100% owned subsidiary of the Nickel Asia and is primarily engaged in the exploration, mining and exporting of nickel ore.

Summary:

Nickeliferous laterite deposit is very pervasive throughout Dinagat Island being the direct weathering product of the ultramafic fraction of the DOC. Several nickel prospects and mines abound within the island group.

As a consequence the whole of Dinagat Island is covered by various mining and exploration permit applications. Besides PNPI which has the largest nickel operation in Dinagat historically, the adjacent island of Hinatuan hosts the Hinatuan Nickel Mining Corporations nickel operation and the Cagdianao Nickel Mining Corporation operates a property in eastern Dinagat Island which is along the Peninsula Point facing the Pacific Ocean. Both companies are under the umbrella corporation of Nickel Asia Corporation. North and east of Loreto are the MPSAs of Comet Exploration and Mining Corporation and Oriental Peninsula Corporation.
