SnapshotRaigarh Area Operation consists of 4 active mines, and 1 opencast project, which are located in Chhattisgarh state in India:

1. Baroud Opencast mine;
2. Bijari Opencast mine;
3. Chhal Opencast mine;
4. Jampali Opencast mine;
5. Pelma Opencast Project.

The Pelma mine will become the first opencast mine in Chhattisgarh under MDO (Mine Developer and Operator) mode.

Summary:

Baroud mine consists of two geological blocks namely Baroud Biological Block and Rai West Geological Block. There exist 14 seams: i.e. Seam XII to seam I (From top to bottom). Nine seams are to be worked, which are XII, XI (T), XI (B), X (L), X, IX, VIII, VII, VI seams (From top to bottom). The gradient of seam / strata is 2°-4° dipping towards S-45°-W direction. There is no major fault or dyke except some minor faults.

Bijari mine
Bijari Block with an area of 2.169 Sq km is located in east central part of Mand-Raigarh coalfield. There are 12 number of persistent coal horizons/seams viz. I to XII in and around Bijari. The general strike of the strata shows NW-SE with local variation. The general variation of the dip of the strata in the block is 2°-5°. Structurally the area is very simple and is devoid of any fault.

Chhal mine
By detailed drilling in Chhal Block, Seam VI to I in descending order have been established including two local seams. Seam L in between Seam IV & Seam III and Seam IIA in between Seam III & Seam II. Thus, in total eight coal horizons have been established in Chhal Block. Complete horizon of Seam V occurs in three main sections as V Top, V Middle and V Bottom. Other thin sections are identified as VT1 above VT and VB4, VB3, VB2 and VB1 below VB. Similarly IVT and IVB split sections are identified of Seam IV. Seam V Bottom, Local, IV and Seam III having average thickness of 11.55 m, 3.5 m, 4.5 m and 9.50 m respectively are under working (extraction) now.

Jampali mine
Singmouza-Jampali block is coved mainly by soil and alluvium. The general strike of strata of the shows NW-SE with local variation and dipping south-west. The amount of the dip is around 4°, general variation of dip of the strata in the block is 2° to 5° at present seam XI Top and XI (Bottom). The three coal horizons with average thickness 1.20 m to 6.07 m have been considered for exploration.
