Jhiria UG mineThe Area is largely covered by the soil & alluvium ranging in thickness from 0m to 10.36m except for Nallah cutting. The coal bearing barker formation is made of grayish white coarse grain sandstone with seven coal seams. There are eleven faults have been deciphered in the area, out of that five faults are tending largely in east west direction. There are five dykes have been identified in the area. There are only two workable seams namely 5A Top and 4A Bottom.Bijuri mine There are fourteen normal faults having a maximum throw of +30 m. The main trend of these faults is NE, SW & EW. At present there are two dykes and two sills have been established in the area. The avg. working thickness of coal seam is 1.6 m to 2.6 m.Sheetaldhara, Kurja and Kapildhara group of underground minesThickness of the formation of soil and subsoil is 1.80 m sandy soil and dolerite intrusion 72.0m as per the boreholes occurs at different stratigraphic horizons is spread over wide areas.Rajnagar OC mineSeam 14D and 13C are quarriable within the block. The thickness of seam 13C varied from 0.53m to 5.79m. The seam is generally free from dirt bands except one shale coal band, which ranges in thickness 0.09 to 0.08 M. The thickness of seam 14D ranges from 1.24m to 6.93m and it consists of bands. The upper band consists of shale thickness of which is 0.11m to 1.15M. Seam 14D and 13C are separated by fire clay parting which ranges in thickness from 0.52 to 7.81m.West Jhagrakhand mineThere are four (04 nos.) workable seams presently in the leasehold area namely JKD “A” 10B, 13C&14D Seam. 14D & 13C had been worked out by Rajnagar opencast. JKD A and 10B seams are being worked by underground mining. At west Jhagrakhand colliery only JKD ‘A ’seam is being worked which spitted in southern and western side of the property namely JKD 5A (Top) seam and JKD 4A (bottom) seam. The thicknesses of seams are 1.7 to 2.4 m and 1.3 to 2.2 m respectively. The roof is shale sandstone of JKD 5A seam and the roof of JKD 4A seam is sandstone. At present JKD 4A (bottom) seam is being worked.
