Snapshot	Chirimiri Area Operation consists of 5 mines, which are located in Chhattisgarh state in India: 1. Chirimiri OC mine; 2. Kurasia UG mine; 3. NCPH R 6 New UG mine; 4. Rani Atari UG mine; 5. Vijay West UG mine. SECL has undertaken discontinued mines namely Anjan Hill UG and Bartunga Hill UG to be given to MDOs on revenue share basis and LOA has already been issued.

Summary:

Chirimiri opencast mine lies in Chirimiri coalfields in M.C.B District of Chhattisgarh State. There are five coal seams have been in report but only seam I, II & III are in working.

Chirimiri (Bartunga Hill) underground mine
Coal seams of the mine are part of Chirimiri Coalfields. All the coal seams except No. 3 seam are limited by escarpment on all the side outline of the hill define the extent of these seams No.3 seam is in continuity within seam of the coalfields low planes chiefly occupied.

Kurasia underground mine
The Seam is almost flat. There are no major faults. Surface is hilly and uneven area. Roof and Floor is of sandstone. There is no spillage.

The whole mining lease area of NCPH Colliery is divided into two parts by a major geological fault of 15 m to 30 m throw, named as NCPH Old and NCPH New Mine.

At Rani Atari UG Mine 2 Nos. coal seam are existing seams: No. I & Seam No.II. Seam No.I is the bottom most seam and No. II is top seam. The dipping of seam No.I is S 48°50' E and Seam No. N 21°30' E. Parting between both the seam is 21 m. The seam No.I is under developing stage and Seam No.II is totally virgin. The depth of cover for Seam No. l is 26 m to 60 m and for seam No.II is to 47 m.

Vijay West mine
There are 13 faults, which varies from 3 m to 77 m of throw.
As per MECL exploration data, two faults exist within mine boundary is F-5 to F-13 crossing the property at NW and SW direction respectively.
