Summary:
The Tweefontein North development includes all five seams present in the Vryheid Formation, however, only the No.1, No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 seams form part of the mineable and economic Coal Resources. The Coal Resources have the potential to be extracted via both opencast truck and shovel or dragline, and underground bord and pillar mining methods.
Tweefontein South Complex is contained in the iMpunzi new order mining right and in the Klippoortjie old order mining authorisation. A section 102 consent was obtained to incorporate the Klippoortjie MR into iMpunzi. Execution of the deed of amendment to give effect to the consent is pending. The mining area development includes all five seams, however only the No.1, No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 seams form part of the Coal Resources.
No mining was conducted in 2022 and the No. 5 Seam Addcar Coal Reserves remain available for future extraction.
PCB successfully commissioned a second dragline at Tweefontein Mine in the latter part of 1H F2021.
