Snapshot	East Tennessee Complex consists of a processing plant and three underground zinc mines: Young, Coy and Immel. Ore from the three mines is processed into zinc concentrate at the Young mine site. All outputs from the East Tennessee Complex is processed in the Clarksville smelter, the only primary zinc smelter in the US. In July 2019, Nyrstar’s operating business became majority owned by Trafigura. Production numbers have not been publicly available since then. Operational performance at the East Tennessee Mines complex is reported to be stable in 2024.

Summary:

East Tennessee Mines are comprised of three operating mines: Coy, Immel and Young, located approximately 30 kilometres north-east of Knoxville, Tennessee. Zinc mineralisation occurs in Mississippi Valley Type (‘MVT’) deposits as open-space fillings of breccias and fractures within limestones and dolomites.
