SnapshotMetalkol RTR operation in the DRC is the world’s second-largest producer of cobalt.

The Metalkol Roan Tailings Reclamation (RTR) Project entails the reclamation of fine-grained copper and cobalt bearing tailings from the Kingamyambo tailings dam and Musonoi/Kasobantu River valley upstream of the Kasobantu Dam and the processing of these tailings to extract copper and cobalt metal.

Metalkol RTR was launched in October 2018 and has reached full Phase 1 production in 2020. It has completed the construction of Phase 2 and is now ramping up to reach the related full capacity.
