In February 2021, AMNT had to suspend operations for one month to contain the spread of COVID-19 at the Batu Hijau mine site. Then, as the Delta variant surged in Indonesia in August 2021, AMNT halted mining operations for three months because of operator shortages.
In compliance with the 2020 Mineral and Coal Mining Law, AMNT has committed to building a copper smelter and precious metals refinery through its subsidiary company PT Amman Mineral Industri (AMIN). The facilities will be located near the AMNT port at Benete Bay, West Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province, and will have a design capacity of 900,000 dry tonnes of copper concentrate per annum, in line with the reserves and long-term production plans at Batu Hijau and Elang. |
