Sakatti is one of the richest multi-metal deposits in Europe.
Sakatti is set to be a remotely operated, low-carbon underground mine, thereby contributing to a sustainable supply of critical minerals to support the energy transition in Finland and the EU.
Sakatti, in Finland, received the all important environmental impact assessment approval in August 2023. The Lapland Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment approved Sakatti’s environmental impact assessment (EIA), marking a major milestone for the development of Sakatti. The EIA process, initiated in 2017, and rooted in extensive baseline studies since the orebody’s discovery in 2009, received recognition for its level of detail, particularly in hydrogeological modelling and water management, and for its overall comprehensiveness.
The environmental permit application and the mining permit application are planned to be submitted during 2024. |
