SnapshotGranville mine is a high-grade tin skarn located in the aureole of the Heemskirk Granite.

During 2018/19 the Clara Resources completed infrastructure associated with the expansion of the Granville mine and commenced Level 2 operations. Following delays with the construction of a new tailings storage facility, in March 2019 the Company transitioned from contract mining to owner mining. Processing operations resumed thereafter treating a blend of hangingwall ore, scats and tailings. Tin concentrate shipments recommenced subsequent to the end of March quarter 2019.

However, in late Sept 2019, following the failure of major mine equipment, a strategic review of the operation was undertaken, and the decision made to place the operation on care & maintenance.

On April 17, 2024, Clara Resources sold Granville mine to Spero Mining.

As of February 2025, there are no publicly available updates regarding the operational status the for the Granville under Spero Mining's management.

Deposit type

  • Skarn

Summary:

The deposit is hosted in metamorphosed Neo- Proterazoic black carbonaceous shale and calcareous quartzite of the Oonah formation overlaid by Tertiary conglomerate, gravel and grit and subsequent Quaternary stream alluvium and swamp and marsh deposits. Mineralization occurs in the horizon of scarts with a magnetite strip associated with the layers, and tin is found as a supergene at a late stage, a low-temperature formation, that is, post-dating of skarn formation, and also (in the form of silicate) released during serpentinization. The horizon of the mineralized skarn extends approximately 50 meters long (north-south) and 15 meters wide (east-west).
