SnapshotThe Fungoni Mine is strategically located in a rapidly expanding commercial and industrial district, benefiting from proximity to well-developed infrastructure, including an established road network and a robust services industry. The mine produces three high-quality industrial mineral products: a combined zircon and monazite product, rutile, and ilmenite products.

On December 31, 2024, Chenguang Rare Earth announced that Nyati Mineral Sands Limited, a subsidiary of Strandline Resources UK Limited (SRUL), has successfully completed the installation and commissioning of the first production line at the Fungoni Heavy Mineral Sands Project. This line has officially commenced production, marking a key milestone in the project’s development.

As per the project plan, all production lines are expected to be fully operational by September 2025, enabling Fungoni to reach its targeted annual production capacity.

On March 28, 2022, Strandline and the Tanzanian Government completed the formation of JV company, Nyati Mineral Sands Limited (Nyati), which now holds all Strandline’s Tanzanian mineral sands assets, including the Fungoni Project.

On August 9, 2024, Strandline completed the sale of its Tanzanian mineral sands assets including Fungoni to Ganzhou Chenguang Rare Earths New Material Co., a subsidiary of Shenghe Resources.

The company intends to acquire 100% equity in Strandline Resources UK Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Strandline Resources Limited, thereby indirectly holding interests in the four heavy mineral sand projects in Tanzania.

Summary:

The overall Fungoni Mineral Resource is exposed at surface (out cropping in most places) with the mineralised ore body showing strong geological continuity along strike and at depth. The higher grade upper domains of the resource are defined by more dominant minerals such as zircon, ilmenite and rutile, in addition to kyanite/sillimanite, and typically more sandy soils with lower slimes content.
