Summary:
The Cardinal Mine is located near Manitou, Hopkins County, Kentucky and originally developed in the Kentucky No. 9 and No. 11 seams. Two exhaust fans provide ventilation for the mine.
The mine is accessed via Slope & Shaft and utilized room-and-pillar mining technique which includes 10 mechanized continuous mining units (MMU) producing approximately 22,838 tons of coal daily.
