SnapshotThe Lake Vermont Meadowbrook Coal Mine Project is a proposed expansion of open-cut and longwall operations north of the existing approved operations Lake Vermont open cut mine.

The project will mine 108.6 million tonnes (Mt) of metallurgical coal from underground operations and 13.3 Mt from open-cut operations until 2055.

If approved, the project is expected to commence construction in January 2025 and be operational by December 2028.

Summary:

Target coal seams at the Lake Vermont Mine include the Vermont Seam and Leichhardt Seam; both contained within the Rangal Coal Measures.

The Leichhardt averaging 3.2m thick and Vermont averaging 5.6m thick, along a strike length of more than 8km. The seams sub crops at a depth of 30 metres and dips gently to the east separated by an average of 32 metres of waste material. Both seams produce high quality hard coking coal and PCI coal after processing.
