SnapshotThe Bumi Barito Mineral (BBM) Coking Coal Project is Cokal’s first developed deposit, producing metallurgical coal, including low-volatility hard coking coal (LVHCC) and high-grade thermal coal.

Coal transportation is carried out using both a 96 km haul road to Batu Tuhup Jetty and barging along the Upper Barito River, though seasonal water level fluctuations pose logistical challenges. To improve processing, Cokal plans to build a coal washing plant, though the timeline for construction has not been finalized.

Current developments include road and bridge upgrades and the arrival of additional mining fleets in Q2 2025. Underground mining at Pit 1. First commercial coal sales began in 2024.

Summary:

The Bumi Barito Mineral (BBM) Permit Area is bisected by the Barito River which cuts through the tenement in a north-south trend. Almost the entire IUP contains coal-bearing sediments with open cut mineable areas controlled by the Barito River and three major fault systems. Coal analyses from more than 130 mapped outcrops on the west side of the Barito River (West Block) indicate it also contains premium quality anthracite and PCI coals. This coal does not currently form part of stated BBM coal Resources and provides potential for significant future expansion of BBM Resources.

Several high-quality metallurgical coal seams have been discovered in BBM, including seams B, C, D, and J. These seams are characterized by low-ash, low-sulfur, low-lead, and ultra-low-phosphorus coal with high vitriol content (over 90%). Seam J is particularly notable for its high swelling index, which is a success for coking.
