SnapshotIn the Chanch Victoria (CV) Area, there is only one operating mine: the Dahibari Basantimata OC mine. The Kalyaneshwari (Damagoria) OC mine is currently suspended. Additionally, the CV Area includes the active Dahibari (NLW) coal washery, which is being operated by ACB (India) Ltd. (BOM operator) under Build-Operate-Maintain (BOM) concept.

According to the BCCL cluster concept for EIA-EMP preparation and grant of Environmental clearances (EC), the Dahibari Basantimata OC mine and Dahibari (NLW) coal washery are a part of Cluster XVI of BCCL mines.

The Kalyaneshwari (Damagoria) OC mine is a part of Cluster XVII of BCCL mines.

Kalyaneshwari OC mine has been suspended since October 2021. Accordingly a Draft Recast Project Report of Kalyaneshwari OCP (4 MTY) has been prepared and submitted by CMPDI which is under review. It was proposed to jointly exploit the Kalyaneshwari coal block of BCCL and Ramnagore coal block of Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL).

Summary:

Dahibari-Basantimata OC mine exists Gopinathpur Top & Bottom, Brindabanpur Top & Bottom and Kalimati group of seams. The present mine is being operated with in Kalimati Group of seams.

The strike, dip and disposition of the coal seams as per the Geological map of the study area (Plate No-V), there are two segments. The Basantimata Colliery and western part of Dahibari-Basantimata Colliery, the strike of the coal seams (sedimentary formation) are along north/west – south/east and dipping towards north-east direction. In the rest of the part of the Cluster-XVI mines, the eastern part of Dahibari-Basantimata Colliery, Chanch Colliery, New Laikdih Colliery and Laikdih Deep Colliery, the strike of the coal seams (sedimentary formation) are swings from south-west to north-north-east direction and dipping towards south-east direction.

Kalyaneshwari block situated in Barakar Formation, and exists seams L-10, Laikdih Top, Laikdih Middle, Laikdih Bottom, Salanpur.
