Marda mining operations commenced in late 2019. The project consists of a number of shallow unmined gold deposits.
As of 31 December 2023, mining operations have now been completed at Marda. Rehabilitation activities are being carried out in conjunction with ore haulage.
Ore remained in stockpiles at Marda, awaiting haulage to Edna May for processing. |

Summary:
Marda is hosted in the Archaean Marda-Diemals Greenstone Belt and comprises a series of discrete gold deposits within a highly deformed segment of the Marda BIF. Generally, the mineralisation trends WNW and occurs within boudinaged segments of the Marda BIF.
The project consists of four nearby pits (Dolly Pot, Dugite, Python and Goldstream) within the Central Marda area and two outlying pits, Golden Orb and King Brown, located 13 and 20km away respectively.
The deposits are characterised by quartz veining accompanied by silica, pyrite and sericite alteration. The structural context is dominated by isoclinal folds, low angle shears and late, high angle cross faults. Oxidation commonly extends to depths between 45m and 70m, reaching depths with weathering variable between the BIF and mafic country rock.
Mineralisation is likely controlled by shear zones/fault zones passing through competent BIF rock units, hosted with mafic/ultramafic stratigraphy. Gold is associated with pyrite alteration in brecciated BIF, +/- quartz. Deep weathering has generated supergene enhancement of gold within the weathered zone.
Dimensions
Lode and shear hosted styles. Strikes range from 140m (Dugite) to 450m (Golden Orb) and dip at 70-90°. Average lode width approximately 10m, mostly ranging between 2- 20m. Down-dip extents typically 50-75m.
Summary:
Open pit mining methods for open pit resources use 90t rigid dump trucks and excavators of 120 to 200t operating weight. Generally a minimum width of around 3m is assumed for open pit.
The mining focus at Marda was the completion of the Golden Orb pit and commencement of the Die Hardy pit. As of 30 June 2023, the Die Hardy open pit is being mined.
Rehabilitation activities are being carried out in conjunction with ore haulage.
Ore remained in stockpiles at Marda, awaiting haulage to Edna May for processing.
Flow Sheet:
Blended ore is processed through 2 stage crushing circuit. Crushed ore is stored on a coarse ore stockpile with a live capacity of approximately 3,800 tonnes. The grinding circuit consists of a primary SAG mill, secondary ball mill crushing circuit.
Primary crushing/grinding plant/machinery:
Mobile crushing fleet including jaw crusher, cone crusher, vibrating screen and 2 x stacker conveyors. 70t and 20t cranes.
Grinding plant equipment:
SAG with 2,000kW installed power, SAG mill size 6.71m x 2.59m, rubber-steel composite liners, Ball mill with 3,720kW installed power, ball mill size 5.03m x 8.21m, composite. Classification WarmanCavex 400mm (400CVX).
Screening plant/equipment:
Trash screen horizontal vibratory 2.4m x 6.1m, polyurethane deck 0.8mm cross flow slots.
