Batura mineA study of drill hole data reveals presence of three coal seams viz. Seam-III, Seam-II & Seam-I in the Batura OC block in descending order. Out of these three coal seams, Seam-III (combined) is found to occur in few areas confined to the central part of the block. However, a split in Seam III as Top, Middle, Bottom, is observed in few areas in north-eastern part of the block of unworkable thickness. However, coal seams II & I are persistent throughout the block in cropping in the southern most part extending almost E-W. Seam-II & I got workable thickness in the entire block. In addition to the aforesaid coal seams few local coal bands have been found developed in the upper part of Seam-II & I and named as L1 & L2 respectively.Bangwar mineThere are 36 no. Normal faults with throw 2M-45 m and many local faults of low magnitude have been deciphered in the block and there is one major down throw fault running in East West direction with throw of 10 m.Damini mineThe coal bearing formation within the block is Barakar formation, which is mainly composed of grayish white Coarse grained sandstone along with sandy shale etc. Coal bearing rocks are exposed generally in the nallah sections. There are eight normal faults, six trending roughly E-W & two trending NE-SW.Dhanpuri mineThe coal bearing area/rocks of Sohagpur Area belonging to Barakar formation V, VI, VII. Out of these seams Seam VI is only workable coal seam. The thickness of the seam varies from 4.65 to 9.61 m. The average thickness is being 7.5 m. The depth of working varies from 18.00 m to 90 m.Khairaha MineThere are five coal horizons are found in this area. There are IX, VIII, VII, VI (B) &V form top downward, seam VII and seam VI (B) are workable seams. The gradient of seam is varying between 1 in 15 to 1 in 30 dipping towards north. The roof of seam is coarse grained sandstone and roof of seam-VIB is mainly coarse grained sandstone.Rajendra MineThe entire property is covered with a thick soil and few exposures of sandstone. The area is free from geological disturbances except for an east west trending fault 15m long which delimit the Northern boundary of the mine. An East-West trending 14m fault from the southern boundary of the project. The roof and floor of the coal seam consist of sandstone of course to medium grains.Sharda Opencast mine is located in eastern part of Burhar-Amlai sub-basin of Sohagpur coalfields and have four coal seams as Burhar VI-T, Burhar VI-B, Burhar IV and Burhar II. The coal bed of the block has NE-SW strike and sub-horizontal to 4° westerly dip. There are five of fault trending NE-SW and E-W have been deciphered in the area with throw ranging from 1-22m along with thin dykes.
