SnapshotThe Skyline Mine is one of the largest coal producers in Utah. It produces high-BTU, low-sulfur coal. The mine is served by both rail and truck, with the ability to reach local and international markets. It is the primary source of coal for the Huntington Power Plant and the Intermountain Power Project.

Launched in February 1993, the Skyline Mine’s pipe conveyor, which links the mine to the rail terminal, is one of the world's most technically advanced coal transport systems.

The 2024 EIS Scoping Report for the Skyline Mine expansion involves two primary federal tracts that extend the facility's operational life: Little Eccles (UTU–92226) and Flat Canyon (UTU–77114).

The BLM published the Final EIS on August 15, 2025. On August 29, 2025, the Record of Decision was signed, marking the first expedited coal leasing action under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act for the Skyline Mine project.

On October 1, 2025, the BLM held a competitive lease sale for the Little Eccles tract.
