Pavón Mine is a part of La Libertad Complex. The Pavón open pit mine is subdivided into two zones: Pavón Norte and Pavón Central.
Pavon Central achieved commercial production in January 2023. Mining at Pavón Central is carried out with conventional open pit truck and shovel methods with ore transported by truck to the Libertad process plant, a distance of approximately 300 km by road.
A similar operating strategy is contemplated for Pavón Sur, beginning in 2025. The LOM ore production contributions from the two mines is expected to occur from 2024 through 2027.
Mine production consists of up to 1.6 Mtpa and 2.5 Mtpa (ore and waste) for Pavón Norte and Central respectively over a 4.5 year mine life.
Mining at the Pavón Norte pit is accomplished in two phases to achieve the final pit limits. The current operating main pit will be mined to the bottom.
A bench mining height of six metres is used, matching the vertical dimension of the reserve blocks. Pit walls are designed with berms at 12 m intervals (i.e., double benched). The pit ramps were designed at 10% maximum gradient for the largest hauling equipment. For single lane traffic, the minimum overall width, including shoulder berm and ditch, is 12 m. For the last benches of the ramp in the pit bottom, the haul road is narrowed to a width of 10 m, manageable for single lane traffic.
The Open Pit LOM production represents a continuation of the existing Pavón N ........
